Qatar Airways Cargo has announced that WebCargo by Freightos will be introduced across the most of the European region effective June 30 2021. Forwarders will be able to conduct eBookings with access to live rates and available capacity on the WebCargo platform.

The ports of Antwerp, Bremen, Hamburg, Haropa and Rotterdam have announced their joint commitment to provide shore power for the largest container vessels by 2028.

American Airlines Cargo has furthered enhanced its transatlantic services for freight customers with the launch of flights from John. F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Miami International Airport (MIA) to Ben Gurion Airport (TLV).

Airbus has enlisted its A350 test aircraft to fly humanitarian aid to India. Including ventilators and oxygen generators, the shipment is intended to help the country as it remains gripped by its second COVID-19 wave. The wave has proved particularly deadly due to the spread of the Delta variant.

More than 6,000 oxygen concentrators, 500 oxygen cylinders, 60 cryogenic oxygen tanks, and several medical supplies and ventilators were transported into the country by A.P. Moller – Maersk through its ocean and air freight solutions for various institutions and corporates contributing to medical relief activities.

Emirates SkyCargo restarted cargo flights to New Zealand in early May with its passenger freighter aircraft, working with the New Zealand government as part of its International Airfreight Capacity Scheme (IAFC) to connect exporters in New Zealand with their international customers.

Container traffic last April was 6% higher than in April 2019 – a year which was not affected by COVID-19 – and 10% higher than in April 2020. In this last April 2021, 7,245,859 tonnes of goods were handled, an increase of 4.1% compared to 2019 and 13% compared to 2020.

IAG Cargo and its sister company British Airways is flying 27 tonnes of urgent medical equipment to Delhi later this evening, (5th May 2021).
