The European Commission has announced that an Italian aid measure of 39.7 million euros to support Alitalia is in line with EU state aid rules. This measure aims at compensating the airline for the damages suffered on certain routes due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak during the period between 1 March and 30 April 2021.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched a self-registration portal to make it easier for COVID-19 testing labs to join the IATA Travel Pass Lab Network. IATA’s Lab Network provides a list of eligible lab locations around the globe so that travelers can easily find a location for a COVID-19 test prior to travel. The newly launched portal provides a one-stop-shop for labs to self-register to be included in the Network.

Cyprus is set to take part in the EU’s Green Pass from July 1, a coronavirus certificate aimed at facilitating international travel. Speaking to state broadcaster CyBC on Tuesday morning, deputy minister for research and innovation Kyriacos Kokkinos confirmed that Cyprus will be ready in time.

Tel Aviv-based Israir is planning to begin flights between Israel and Morocco in July. The two countries normalized relations in 2020, opening the way for direct flights. Six months later, Israir says it will start flying regularly between Tel Aviv and Marrakesh from July 19. If the flights take off as planned, they will be the first scheduled services between the two countries.
